Sires and Dams
Vale Meadows Flossy Elder EX92
27th April 2024
Flossy Elder is the dam of Kassam of Longfield, (photo on home page) . This Flossy line goes back to a Chapelton Neptune daughter Wavendon Flossy Flower, being a long lived lady who went on to breed 16 progeny (no twins) including a Highland Show Champion (Vale Meadows Flossy Cavalier) (semen available from this website). These longevity genetics are a plus for any herd.
Lowther Strawberry Surprise
27th April 2024
Lowther Strawberry Surprise 427 was purchased by Longfield Shorthorns, from Stirling sales, where she was Reserve Female Champion on the day. A daughter of Blelack Minstrel, we selected her on phenotype and outcross genetics, alongside her great milk figures. Strawberry has been one of our most successful females in an IVF program. We selected Tofts Billabong Prince and Eionmor Highlander 90P in these programmes and have a few embryos still available.
Tofts Billabong Prince (P)
27th April 2024
We identified Prince whilst he was still on his mother, at Tofts, and made a visit to see him. His sire Ingleton C111 was of great interest to us, as supplies were very low in the UK and his back pedigree for outcrossing over the Varsity lines, was the direction of our forward breeding. Tofts Billabong Prince was identified by the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society as the perfect bull to use as a reference sire across the country, so we agreed for his semen to be used by members to improve accuracies. His figures today have stood the test of time, with 5 of his traits in the top 5%.
Heir Apparent of Longfield (P)
27th April 2024
Tarrant Xerodrabra was a young heifer Tina used to show, when she worked with the Tarrant herd, who later dispersed. Years later we purchased her at age 10 yrs and Heir Apparent was born. Carrying his dams presence and style, we took him to Stirling Bull Sales, where he was Junior Champion and  Reserve Overall Champion. Purchased by the Caramba herd, he made his new home in Southern Ireland.
